Known for being an area for modish cafés, restaurants and craft beer bars, Ari is where people of the same aesthetic like to drink, dine and hang out. Among the incredible places, Chomp found a bar & restaurant that echoes urbanism offering delicious and comforting food and drinks, Blackmoon Bar & Restaurant.
Located on Phaholyothin Road, near the Ari BTS station, this industrial-styled loft restaurant & bar takes up the 5th and 6th floors of the building and is decorated with gigantic moon lamps. It is well-loved by Ari locals and more due to its charming rooftop view where you can watch sky trains running on trails. The scenery gives a sense of contrast between urban melancholy and comfort.
The food here is primarily comfort food with a twist. One of the recommended dishes is Beef Fat Fried Rice. The rice was fried with beef fat, which gives a mouth-watering aroma, topped with loads of crispy garlic and chives and served with two juicy and chewy beef skewers.
Blackmoon Spaghetti is also a must-try. A handful of black spaghetti swam in the restaurant's creamy and spicy sauce, topped with a load of freshly grated aromatic hard cheese and served with a spoonful of ebiko, a lemon wedge and a chunk of pan-fried leaning on the bed of black pasta. The lemon isn't for decoration. Remember to squeeze the juice out for a trip to tang town.
The Blackmoon's highlight is Ravioli with Scallops. The fresh scallops that topped the dish were huge and perfectly seared. They were sweet and firm. They went incredibly well with the spinach ravioli and cream and Thai chilli paste sauce.
For those who love spicy food, this place is also famous for Mala skewers and has a variety of meat and vegetable options.
You can't eat without lubrication from good beverages. Blackmoon has quite a selection of reds and whites, but what Chomp wants to recommend is their cocktails. Although Blackmoon isn't a place for people who regularly indulge in Manhattan or Corps Reviver No.2, it's more like a place where people who love Cosmopolitan or Whisky Sour can relate.
Wild Child, an orange vodka-based mixed with yuzu lemon soda and garnished with strawberries and rosemary, is a good aperitif and could be a good pair for Mala skewers or creamy dishes. Also, it could stand on its own.
Legally Blonde is a refreshing fruity sweet & sour cocktail consisting of rum, watermelon, peach tea, egg white, and garnished with rosemary and watermelon balls. It goes well with fried food.
Still, with sour category drinks, Gone Girl is a tequila-based cocktail mixed with umeshu and egg white and garnished with star anise and salted plum powder. It is a stand-alone drink or a good pair for meat dishes.
Mean Girl is a float. It's a mixture of gin, lychee, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The drink is garnished with blueberries, lychees and rosemary. It's a boozy float.
If you happen to drop by the Ari area, whether you want to just spend the night on your own or with your special one or a small group of friends, Blackmoon is one of the choices that don't disappoint. Blackmoon
