The year 2024 list of the World's 50 Best Hotels, one of the most prestigious honours in the world, has been unveiled at a lavish awards ceremony held at London's historic Guildhall. The announcement, which highlights outstanding hotel experiences around the globe, is expected to uplift and inspire travellers' and hoteliers' expectations everywhere. Prominent figures from the tourism business gathered to celebrate each other's incredible accomplishments.

Capella Bangkok, located on the banks of Thailand's majestic Chao Phraya River, has secured the top spot on The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024 list, jumping ten places from No. 11 in the 2023 list. The hotel has also been named The Best Hotel in Asia 2024. Opened in 2020, Capella Bangkok boasts a modern design surrounded by lush gardens. It combines the elegance of a grand property with the intimate atmosphere of a boutique hotel. The striking layered architecture ensures that all 101 rooms offer river views, and the riverside villas and suites feature private pools. The renowned Auriga spa provides a serene retreat, and guests can rely on the assistance of 'Capella Culturalists' – personal butlers with access to the city's finest and most diverse activities – to make the most of their stay.

The second spot is held by Passalacqua, located in an 18th-century villa surrounded by stunning terraced gardens on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. In addition, the hotel has been honoured with the Carlo Alberto Best Boutique Hotel Award for 2024. This award is given to the hotel that ranks highest on the list and meets all the criteria of a boutique property. According to 50 Best, a boutique hotel is defined as having fewer than 50 rooms and not being part of a large chain or group. It should also offer personalised service and unique features specific to its location. The impressive Rosewood Hong Kong in the city's Victoria Dockside arts and design district takes the third spot.

In this highly anticipated The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024 list, Asia made a remarkable impact, securing a total of 19 prestigious placements. Notably, the vibrant city of Bangkok emerges as a standout global travel destination, with four exceptional hotels being recognised for their unparalleled luxury and service. These distinguished establishments include the opulent Capella Bangkok at the top spot, the iconic Mandarin Oriental Bangkok at No.12, the exquisite Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River at No.14, and the elegant The Siam at No.26. This recognition not only highlights the city's thriving hospitality scene but also solidifies its position as a top-tier destination for discerning travellers.

Japan has also made a strong showing with three featured hotels. Aman Tokyo secures the 7th position, while Bulgari Tokyo is ranked at No. 22 and also clinched the prestigious Nikka Best New Hotel 2024 award. The Nikka Best New Hotel Award is bestowed upon the highest-ranked hotel on the list that commenced operations within the 18-month voting period. Additionally, Park Hyatt Kyoto holds the 27th spot.

In addition to the No.3 ranked Rosewood Hong Kong, another noteworthy hotel from Hong Kong, The Upper House, has also made it to the list, securing an impressive spot at number 5.

Two prestigious hotels in Singapore, Raffles Singapore and Capella Singapore, have both achieved remarkable rankings in the hospitality industry. Raffles Singapore, securing an impressive No. 6 position, is known for its exceptional service and luxury offerings. Meanwhile, Capella Singapore, securing a commendable No. 33 placement, is praised for its outstanding guest experience. Both hotels have solidified their positions as top choices for travellers visiting Singapore, offering unique experiences that cater to the discerning traveller.

From Indonesia, two hotels have received prestigious accolades for their exceptional offerings. Nihi Sumba, a lavish resort nestled on the breathtaking and culturally vibrant Sumba Island, has achieved the remarkable 10th position, showcasing its unparalleled luxury and hospitality. On the other hand, Desa Potato Head, an innovative and eco-conscious destination situated on the lively island of Bali, has impressively secured the 21st position, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and unique guest experiences.

In the realm of luxury travel destinations, three exquisite properties from South Asia have made their mark. Soneva Fushi in the Maldives takes the 8th spot, offering guests an unparalleled tropical paradise experience. Anangalla in Sri Lanka has been recognised as the 39th best destination, showcasing the island's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. Meanwhile, Suján Jawai in Rajasthan, India, secures its place at No. 43, inviting travellers to immerse themselves in the opulence and grandeur of Indian hospitality amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Rajasthan.

In addition to the aforementioned hotels, three outstanding hotels from the Middle East have also been included in the rankings. Atlantis the Royal, a luxurious resort in Dubai, has been ranked at No. 9, offering unparalleled luxury and service. The Lana, another esteemed hotel in Dubai, has secured the 23rd position, providing guests with a remarkable hospitality experience. Additionally, Six Senses Zighy Bay, nestled in the scenic landscapes of Oman, has claimed the 45th place, offering visitors a tranquil and rejuvenating retreat.

As an addition to the 50 Best list, best-in-class accommodations and persons receive unique prizes. There are now three new honours on the list of prizes for 2024. The Carlo Alberto Best Boutique Hotel Award goes to Passalacqua (No.2) in Lake Como. The Lost Explorer Best Beach Hotel Award is presented to Soneva Fushi (No.8) in the Maldives for a second year. Maroma (No.18) in Mexico takes home the Flor de Caña Eco Hotel Award after a rigorous audit by the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Bulgari Tokyo (No.22) wins the Nikka Best New Hotel Award. Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, is honoured with the SevenRooms Icon Award. A new accolade for this edition, the Ferrari Trento Most Admired Hotel Group Award, goes to Aman. Atlantis The Royal (No.9) in Dubai is named the winner of the Highest Climber Award (new award) after rising 35 places in the ranking from No.44 to No.9. Raffles London at The OWO (No.13) has won the Lavazza Highest New Entry Award (new award). No.3 Gin Art of Hospitality Award has been gone to Royal Mansour, and The Peninsula Istanbul has received the American Express Travel One to Watch Award.
