Earlier this year, Chomp reported the news about the very first Bar Convent Singapore (BCB Singapore), one of the most anticipated events in the bar and beverage industry, scheduled for the 6th and 7th of November, 2023. This event aims to promote the growth and development of the bar and beverage industry in Asia. It will provide a platform for passionate industry professionals across the Asia Pacific to connect, innovate, and celebrate regional talent.

One of the main event highlights, Homegrown Heroes, will feature bar teams from different Asian countries, including ReCraft from the Philippines, Hybrid from Vietnam, Penrose from Malaysia, and Lost in Thaislation from Thailand. These teams will collaborate with their counterparts from Singapore to showcase a fusion of talents and experiences that illustrate the limitless potential of the region's bar scene.

The two-day event will also feature an extensive lineup of over 40 renowned international bartenders and industry experts leading education sessions, an exhibition of over 150 global brands, a wide array of tasting masterclasses, onsite and offsite guest shifts, and networking opportunities and activities.

Bar Convent Singapore's education programme led by Peter Chua, the director of Composed Concepts and co-owner of Night Hawk, has invited some of the industry's most renowned figures, including Michael Callahan, the managing director of The Compound Collective and founding bartender of 28 HongKong Street, Monica Berg, the co-owner of Tayēr + Elementary and creative director of Campari Academy, and Lorenzo Antinori, the founder of Bar Leone and Lorenzo Antinori Studio.

The comprehensive program is designed to cater to diverse industry roles and covers various topics, such as:


- Journey from Bartender to Owner with Beckaly Franks, the co-owner of The Pontiac and Founder of Hungry Ghost.


- Sustainability through different lenses with Alex Francis, the bar director of LITTLE RED DOOR; Ronnaporn Kanivichaporn, the co-owner and bartender of Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar and #FindTheLockerRoom, and Vijay Mudaliar, the founder of Native and Analogue Initiative.


- Practical flair techniques with Bryan Bonifacio, the principal bartender of Employees Only Singapore, and Shallum Recto, the on-trade specialist of William Grant & Sons Singapore Distribution.


And many more.

Guests at the BCB Singapore event can look forward to an impressive showcase featuring a wide selection of premium spirits, craft beers, mixers, cutting-edge technology, and equipment. The market leaders such as The Botanist, Monkey 47, and Campari will be present at the event. There will also be a Japan Pavilion that will bring together more than 20 Japanese producers of traditional spirits such as sake, shochu, awamori, and craft beer.

Besides the event's exciting activities, BCB Singapore has arranged for a range of experiences across the city for all attendees. There will be ten official guest shifts and activations that will kick off from Sunday, 5 November. The guest shifts will include acclaimed bars such as KI NO BI and Monkey Shoulder 47 at Manhattan Bar featuring Rogerio Igarashi of Bar Trench, Tokyo; Flor de Cana at Smoke & Mirrors featuring Crimson Room, Bangkok; and Proof & Company's closing party at 28 HongKong Street featuring Beckaly Franks. Additionally, there will be a nature trail and wellness session organised by Healthy Hospo in partnership with Fever Tree and Seedlip during the daytime on 5 November.
